Note: If your organization is not using Freehand by Invision you can safely disregard this message.

The Freehand by Invision whiteboarding experience was always supported in the original meeting experience but wasn’t supported in the new, popped-out meeting experience. Today, we are pleased to announce that users of Teams Meetings will be able to use Freehand by Invision during the meeting to draw and collaborate with meeting participants in the popped-out meeting experience.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 67170

When this will happen?

We will begin rolling out in mid October and expect to be complete by the end of October. How will this affect your organization?

Users in your organization will be able to use Freehand by Invision, in the popped-out meeting experience, during their meetings if the application is enabled in your tenant.

In the popped-out meeting experience, users will see a Freehand by Invision tile. After clicking on this they will momentarily be taken to the main Teams app to configure the Freehand whiteboard they wish to use, and, once complete, they will be taken back to the popped-out meeting window they started from and the Freehand whiteboard will begin loading.

Note: The AllowWhiteboard policy does not affect your users’ use of Freehand by Invision – that policy setting only enables/disabled the MSFT Whiteboard app. Freehand by Invision can be managed via the Microsoft Teams admin center, under Teams apps > Manage apps. What do you need to do to prepare?

You may consider updating your training and documentation as appropriate. As soon as the update is deployed to your tenant, users will see the familiar Freehand by Invision tile in the share content tray in the popped-out meeting experience.
