Microsoft Teams: Frictionless app re-install for users

Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Experts

From Microsoft Corporation
Technical Bulletin MC377799 · Published May 9, 2022

Message Summary

This update will enable users to more easily find the apps that they use regularly via app flyouts, and they’ll be able to just @mention their favorite bot to start using it seamlessly in a new chat/team.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 87551

When this will happen:

We will begin rolling out in mid-June and expect to complete by late June.

How this will affect your organization:

Users in your organization will soon benefit from this new feature that enables a seamless re-discovery of apps for Teams users. Today, when a user adds an app in one chat, then goes to a different chat and attempts to use that app again, they need to repeat the installation process for that app.

This new feature will increase efficiencies by only requiring the user to install the app once. After that, users can frictionlessly use the app anywhere in Teams without having to go through the install process again.

Note: Users will not need to repeat installation of apps. One-time installation will ready the app for use for that user anywhere inside Teams.

What you need to do to prepare:

You might want to notify your users about this change and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
