We’re improving bookmarks administration in Microsoft Search.

When this will happen
- We’ll begin rolling out this out to Targeted Release customers in mid-June 2020, Standard Release customers in early July.
- We anticipate that the rollout will be complete the end of July.
How this will affect your organization
Once this change is implemented, Microsoft Search will display a new category field as a dynamic dropdown when someone is adding or editing a bookmark.
As a user types information in the category field, the dropdown automatically filters categories to match.
Only Microsoft Search administrators and editors will be able to create a new category. Once a bookmark has been created, the category (if it is new) will be added to list of unique categories and become available for future bookmark additions or edits.
Categories will be visible in the list view for bookmarks and can be filtered based on the categories through the Filter Pane. What you need to do to prepare
